PAT Testing and the Employer
As an employer it is vital to protect your business and its employees, and as such we aim to provide the best test and inspection service to enable our customers to fulfil their obligations and the "duty of care" that the 1989 Electricity at Work Regulations places on them.
Employers have a duty to ensure the safety of others whilst at work and they will have ultimate responsibility for electrical safety.
What needs Testing?
A portable appliance is any electrical item that requires a mains plug to function. Damage can occur to plugs and power leads when used or moved during daily use. This can then leave the user susceptible to harm through electrical shock.
Examples of portable appliances:
-
Computers, monitors, peripherals requiring mains power
-
Kettles, microwave ovens & other kitchen appliances
-
Vacuum and floor cleaners
-
Extension and connecting leads
